Julia (Dusek) Pleskac

Julia (Dusek) Pleskac, 87, passed away June 20, 2011, from natural causes, at home with her family. Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, June 24, 2011, at the Holland & Bonine Funeral Chapel with Pastor David Herndon officiating.

Burial will follow at the Calvary Section of Highland Cemetery. A fellowship luncheon will be held in the southeast corner of Pepin Park immediately after the services at graveside. Memorial contributions in Julia's honor may be made to a charity of one's choice. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Julia was born Sept. 25, 1923, in Havre, Mont., to Fred and Pauline Dusek. She was the fifth of seven children. Her childhood years were spent in Box Elder. She attended Dry Fork School, Box Elder and Havre High School, graduating in 1942. As a young woman she worked as a nurse's aide at the Deaconess hospital during World War II.

On June 19, 1946, she married Frank Pleskac in Bozeman. They made their home north of Havre where they spent their lives farming and ranching. Julia remained active on the farm after the death of her husband until recently when she moved to Havre to join her sisters. Julia was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was known for her bountiful vegetable garden which she was eager to share. She enjoyed being a homemaker and participating in family and community gatherings. She had a great love of animals and the outdoors, and she enjoyed collecting owl figurines.

She was a member of the Home Demonstration Club, the St. Joe Community Club and organized and lead the West Fork Workers 4-H Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank in 1992; one infant daughter; two brothers, Jerry and Fred Dusek; and her sister Betty.

Julia is survived by her three daughters: Janice (Tony) Hicks of Ovando, Mont., Rosalie (Daryl) Sather of Havre, Mont., and Mary Jo Pleskac of Havre, Mont .; five grandchildren, Les (Alicia) Hicks of Drummond, Mont., Jody (Shane) Hicks of Washoe Valley, Nev., Julie (Greg) Borlaug of Medford, N.J., Tony Sather of Havre, Mont., and Loralie (John) Sather of Bozeman, Mont .; five great-grandchildren; three sisters: Mary D. Pleskac of Havre, Mont., Rose Brandt of Port Huenene, Calif., and Lydia Rice of Cortez, Colo.
