Thanks for food bank fundraiser support

Editor:

We would like to personally extend our gratitude to the Havre community, volunteers and business sponsors for supporting the Havre Food Bank Fundraiser Dinner which was held Nov. 16.

We were able to raise more than $1,200 with the dinner admission, silent auction items, raffle and donations. Our venue was St. Jude Parish Center. The space was kindly donated for our dinner. We had volunteer help from the St. Jude Thaddeus Church youth group, along with the Havre High School Key Club.

Numerous volunteers from District IV HRDC came out and helped us prepare the food on Tuesday, and helped cook and clean the day of our fundraiser. Merlin LaSalle and Michael Field were our two men who hauled all of our supplies Tuesday and Wednesday. They peeled 500 pounds of potatoes, helped cook, clean and set up the dinner, along with providing moral support to the cause.

Penny Velk, the manager of Havre Food Bank and owner of Henny Penny Cupcakes, spent endless hours baking and decorating dozens of gourmet cupcakes for the dessert and silent auction, she also helped prep the food the night before. And to all of the volunteers who willingly donated their time to our dinner, we truly appreciate the help they gave us.

Lastly we need to give a huge thank-you to the Eagles Club for letting us utilize the kitchen at the last minute for all of our food prep Tuesday the day before our dinner.

Thank you, everyone, for all you have done for the Havre Food Bank. Let's continue to work together as a community to support the Havre Food Bank that serves so many people on the Hi-Line.
