Five Hawks named 10C All-Conference

The high school basketball season is in the books, but plenty of local high school girls are still making headlines.

Along the Hi-Line, several girls hoopsters have been honored for their play this season.

In District 1B, Rocky Boy's Caitlyn Gamble earned District 1B second-team all-conference honors for 2010-11. Gamble is a 6-0 sophomore starter for the Morning Stars, and she averaged 13 points and six rebounds per game this year, but was instrumental in Rocky Boy's run down the stretch by averaging 18 points per game in her last five games of the season.

Two Harlem stars were honored for their play as well. Seniors Maurvella Fuller and Hyapatia Getten earned District 2B second-team all-conference honors for the season. Fuller led a balanced Wildcats team in scoring at 13 points per game, while Getten, a four-year starter for the Wildcats, helped lead them to a repeat appearance at the Northern B tournament this season.

In all, seven players from the Northern B earned Class B All-State honors this year. They are, Molly Klinker of Fairfield, Alisha Breen of Choteau, Skyler Steinbach of Fairfield, Courtney Henry of Malta, Kori Kindle of Malta; Amanda Sansaver of Wolf Point and Dionne Zoanni of Wolf Point.

Meanwhile, the District 10C also released its postseason awards for the year and five Chester/J-I Hawks made the list. Junior Jenni Ghekiere, who led the Hawks in scoring and rebounding this season, as well as Katelyn Graff earned 10C first-team all-conference for the year. C/J-I's Stine Haaland, Nikole Wolfe and Larisa Lybeck were named to the 10C second team as well, as the Hawks captured their second straight 10C tournament title and appeared in yet another Northern C Divisional this season.
