Hi-Line Athlete Profile: Kameron Pribyl

Havre High senior Kameron Pribyl has emerged as an elite Blue Pony athlete over the last few years. And coming off of a successful football season, Pribyl is looking for the same success in his last season as a Blue Pony wrestler.

Pribyl was a star linebacker for the Pony football team, and was a key component in their success this season. And coming off of the best football season in the last seven years, earning a trip to the state semifinals, Pribyl also earned second team All-Conference honors as an outside linebacker.

But now is wrestling season, and Pribyl is looking to build on the success he found last season. At 152-pounds, Pribyl finished last year's state tournament in third place. He has been to the state tournament all three years, wrestling at 145 pounds as a freshman and 160 pounds as a sophomore. Now back at 160-pounds this season, Pribyl is looking forward to another good year.

Pribyl is one of a handful of seniors helping to mold a young Blue Pony team, and in doing so, helping to continue HHS's dominance in Class A wrestling.

Here's five questions with one of HHS's most experienced wrestlers.

HDN: What do you think of the team so far this season?

Pribyl: "I think we are young and have to improve a lot. I think we are doing ok right now, but we just have to keep improving, and as we get further into the season, it will start growing on us more and we will get better."

HDN: What kind of accomplishment would it be to end your high school career with an individual and or team state title?

Pribyl: "Oh I would love them both. Winning it as a team and winning it as an individual would be awesome."

HDN: What is your favorite tournament to wrestle at, or team to face?

Pribyl: "I would have to go with state. State is the best, you have the Class A there, the Class AA there and B and C. The crowd is big and exciting and that is what I like about it."

HDN: What does the team need to do moving forward to be successful?

Pribyl: "We just have to work a lot harder in the room, we have to be more disciplined and not get pinned. We cannot get pinned, we have to wrestle for six minutes no matter what, win or lose, we can't give up those easy six points. No matter how tough the other kid is, you have to fight off your back."

HDN: Is the competition any different moving up to 160 pounds from 152 pounds last season?

Pribyl: "I have run into a lot of the same guys from last year. The competition hasn't changed much, so I just have to wrestle like I did last year. But being at 160 pounds fits the team a lot better."

Pribyl enters his senior year as one of the top 160-pounders in Class A and is seeking to improve upon his third-place finish at 152 pounds at last year's Class A state tournament. But Pribyl is also helping lead a younger generation of Blue Ponies through his hard work and dedication to wrestling.
