Herbert L. Williams

 


Herbert L. Williams passed away peacefully on June 22, 2011, at the age of 88, at Northern Montana Care Center in Havre, with his wife by his side.

Herb was born on April 26, 1923, in Ipswich, S.D. to DeWitt and Grace Williams. Herb attended school in Ipswich, S.D.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Jan. 21, 1942, until Sept. 25, 1945, when he was honorably discharged. Herb worked for the Havre Police Department and retired after 21 years of service. He enjoyed woodcrafts and latch hook rugs. Herb was lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 497.

Herb married Thea Shrauger, and to this union they had two sons. Thea passed in 1973. Herb later married Olive Stene Dille. She passed in 1993. Herb and Kitty were married in July 2000.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Thea and wife, Olive; brothers, Delbert and Virgil; daughter-in-law, Rose Williams; and one great-granddaughter.

He is survived by his wife Kitty Williams; two sons, Mike Williams, Dave (Oma) Williams of Havre; stepdaughter, Rose Marie (Lynn) Eggum of Colorado; stepson, Lyle Dille of Havre; stepdaughters, Keri (Keith) Hanson of Chinook, and Kristy Galbavy of Whitefish; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
