Peter Ray Ensrud

Peter Ray Ensrud died on May 20, 2011, after battling Alzheimer's disease.

He was born in Grafton, N.D., and spent time in Havre, Mont. He graduated from the University of Denver and earned a master's degree from the University of Idaho.

Pete married Donna Schramm in 1964, and they spent two years in the Peace Corps in Honduras. Pete taught at Billings Senior High and at the Helena, Glendive and Billings vocational technical schools. Pete intermittently took time off from teaching to follow other pursuits. He worked on the Mountain Plains Project which served disadvantaged families, and he worked in restaurants and sold real estate. After retiring, Pete worked at Teton National Park and spent time at Lake Mead. Pete was very active and loved the outdoors. He was always positive, and enjoyed socializing with family and friends.

Pete is survived by his daughter, Jami Ensrud, who was with him when he passed; his daughter, Keri Christovich, her husband Ed, and their five children; his siblings and their spouses, Ann and Gene Erickson, Don and Marlys Ensrud, Dorie and Alan Morbeck, and Kristin and Leonard MacKey; other close family, and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 25.
