MAT seeks actors for February comedy

The local acting troupe is looking for thespians to help stage its February play, a comedy that explores the relationships of men and women in the 1800s and the impacts of a new therapeutic device to help relieve women of hysteria — an electric vibrator.

Andi Daniel, who is directing the production of Sarah Ruhl's "In the Next Room, or the Vibrator Play, " said the production has parts for four women and three men, ranging in age from 20 years old to people in their 50s.

"It's a play about … the repression of the Victorian Era and the relations that are built between the doctor and his wife and the patients he sees, " she said.

"It's a pretty funny play, " she said, adding, "I think its a relevant message. Relationships are the same throughout time, and how things develop. "

The auditions will

be held in the Little Theatre in Cowan Hall at Montana State University-Northern Tuesday starting at 5:30 p. m. and Wednesday starting at 7 p. m.

Daniel said the play will start running the first weekend in February and for the following two weekends, with a special production on Valentine's Day, Tuesday, Feb. 14.
