Pride Foundation sets Havre scholarship workshop

A philanthropic group is coming to Havre Wednesday, Nov. 9, to host a workshop on how to write a "stellar" scholarship application.

The Pride Foundation will later host an event to talk about its work on lesbian and gay issues in the state.

In a press release, the foundation said the scholarship workshop will help people learn how to fill out a scholarship application, whether the applicant is about to graduate high school or already in post-secondary education.

The workshop will be from 3 to 4:30 p. m. in Computer Lab A in the basement of the Vande Bogart Library at Montana State University-Northern.

People are asked to RSVP by Monday, Nov. 7, for additional details from Caitlin Copple, Pride Foundation regional development organizer for Montana, at (406) 456-7017, or via email at [email protected].

Copple said that a meet-and-greet will be held at 5:30 p. m. at Guadalajara's Mexican Restaurant, hosted by former state Speaker of the House Bob Bergren, D-Havre.

A 90-minute scholarship workshop also will be hosted by the Pride Foundation in Great Falls on Thursday, Nov. 10.

People at the meet-and-greet will be able to learn more about work the group has been doing to try to improve tolerance and understanding in Montana, Copple said.

The Pride Foundation was founded in 1985 and works on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues in the Northwest and Alaska.
