For the second straight night the Montana State University-Northern women's basketball team had a chance to beat a nationall-ranked Frontier Conference power. But for the second straight night, the Skylights were left heartbroken. On Saturday night at the MSU-Northern Fieldhouse, the 10th-ranked Lewis-Clark State Warriors spoiled the emotional home finales of Skylight seniors Samm Schermele and Taylor Keller with a 57-47 win.

Northern outplayed the Warriors for much of the game, leading 25-18 at halftime. But LC State closed the game on an 18-5 run to win by 10 points. Laramie Schwenke paced the Skylights with 14 points, while Keller scored 13 points. Schermele scored 10 and received a rousing standing ovation after she fouled out with less than 30 seconds left in the game.

The loss to the Warriors means the Skylights (4-10, 13-17) finish the season in sventh place in the league standings. Northern will travel to LC State for a rematch with the Warriors in a first round conference playoff game Tuesday night.
