Hi-Line Football Roundup

Teams across the Hi-Line have played at least four football games at this point in the season. And with several wins this weekend, several local teams continue to dominate the competition.

On Friday in Chinook, the undefeated Northern C 8-Man Sugarbeeters played host to the Great Falls Central Mustangs. And keeping their undefeated season alive, the Beeters came away with the 50-6 dominating win.

The story in this game was once again Zach Molyneaux and Ben Stroh.

Both Molyneaux and Stroh scored three rushing touchdowns a piece, and Stroh added a 60-yard punt return for a score. Stroh finished

with 149 rushing yards and Molyneaux finished with 150 after racking up 131 rushing yards in the first half.

Stroh's scores came from two yards, five yards and 50-yards out. And Molyneaux's scores came from 26 yards, 15 ayrds and 50-yards out, as they helped lead the Beeters to a 5-0 start to their season.

The defense was also huge, as they only allowed one score on Friday, as well as they forced one interception and several turnover on downs and punts by the Mustangs.

"I think it is our desire to be successful and the drive to build off of last year that is making us so explosive on both sides of the ball," Chinook head coach Matt Molyneaux said. "We have a great bunch of kids who aren't happy with simply winning or gaining a few yards on a play, they are striving to get better."

The Beeters will host Sunburst on Friday.

Chester/J-I 72, Tri-Cities 6

The Northern C Chester/J-I Hawks also put their undefeated season on the line on Friday.

And hosting Tri-City co-op, the No 7 Hawks also improved to 5-0 on the season with a dominating win. The Hawks led 56-0 at the half and ultimately earned the victory by a 72-6 thrashing of Tri-City in Chester.

Leonard Pugsley was a major factor, rushing for four touchdowns and grabbing a pick-six on defense. Pugsley's rushing touchdowns came from 18, one, 19 and two yards out. And on defense, Pugsley grabbed an interception and returned to pay dirt after a 55-yard return.

Erik Kelly also scored for the Hawks, punching in a TD run from one-yard out, while Cole Temple scored on a two-yard rush as well as a one-yard rush. Dustin Romain also scored on a one-yard run for the Hawks.

As the Hawks continue to roll through the opposition, they also continue to gain recognition, as they went from the No. 9 ranked team last week to the No. 7 ranked team this week.

And the Hawks will get back to action on Friday as they travel to take on Simmss

Big Sandy 49, Augusta 13

The Class C 6-Man Big Sandy Pioneers aren't undefeated this season, but they too earned a dominating win this weekend.

The No. 9 Pioneers improved to 3-1 on the season as they handed the Augusta Elks a 49-13 loss in Big Sandy on Friday night.

Big Sandy has a number of weapons on the roster this season, but Jessey Bailey was the hero this week, as he finished the game with 170 yards and five scores.

Bailey opened up the floodgates for the Pioneers with the first score of the game coming on a five-yard rush. Bailey then went on to score on a 40-yard run, 13-yard run, 20-yard run and a three-yard run. Bailey had 20 carries in the game and helped turn a 19-6 halftime lead into a big win for the Pioneers.

Zac Leader also reeled in a 19-yard pass from Trevor Lackner for a score, and Colter Darlington reeled in a five-yard Pass from Lackner. Kyle Strutz also scored on a 15-yard run.

Big Sandy will get back on the field on Friday when they travel to Valier.

In 1B Harlem Wildcats also played on Friday, but their struggles continued. On the road in Malta, the Wildcats fell 68-6 to the No. 3 Mustangs. With the loss the Wildcats fell to 1-3 on the season.

The Wildcats put up two scores in the game, coming from Bud Buck. Buck scored on a two-yard rush in the second quarter and on a five-yard pass in the fourth from Deion Hammett.

Harlem will host Glasgow on Friday.

In Eastern C 8-Man play, the Hays/Lodge-Pole thunderbirds also suffered another tough loss on Saturday.

In Medicine Lake the Thunderbirds were hoping to find their first win of the season. But staying winless on the season, the Thunderbirds were defeated 38-8.

Kevin Horn grabbed a 45-yard pass from Clay Chandler for the only HLP score. The score came in the third score, after falling behind 30-0 at the halfway mark.

Trent Kirkaldie had 122 yuards rushing on 16 carries for the Thunderbirds.

North Star 54, Box Elder 28

In Northern C 6-man Play, the North Star Knights and Box Elder Bears meat on Saturday in Rudyard.

It was the Knights who came away with the 54-28 win and improved to 3-1 on the season. It was a tough loss for the Bears, but Box Elder is playing a junior varsity schedule this season.

The Knights took a 27-7 first quarter lead and stretched the gap to 41-19 at the half. The Beard did outscore the Knights 9-8 in the second half, but it was all for not.

Jordy Donoven was huge for the Knights, as he scored on a 52-yard run, a 69-yard kick return and on a six-yard rush.

Also for the Knights, Karsten Donoven scored on a two-yard pass from Cooper Spicher, while Calvin Vaughn scored on a two-yard run and Caleb Vaughn scored on a four-yard run.

For the Bears, Jesse Ramos scored on a five-yard pass from Chris LaMere, while Skylar Parisian scored on an 18-yard run and a 65-yard pass reception, and LaMere scored on a six-yard run. The Bears also had a safety in the game.

Next in line for the Knights is Geraldine-Highwood on the road on Friday.

CMR JV's 39, Havre JV's 8

Last Monday afternoon the Havre Blue Ponies junior varsity football team played the CMR Rustlers. The weather was a huge factor as the rain poured throughout the whole game. The Blue Pony wide receivers struggled to catch the ball, therefore quarterback Kade Rismon completed only eight passes out of 23 attempts for 128 yards with one 34-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Jace Billy. The Ponies did fairly well running the ball with running back Tristin Manuel who led the team with yards and carries. Manuel ran the ball 19 times for 63 yards. The Blue Pony offense never seemed to be able to get into a rhythm and only scored the one touchdown followed by a successful 2-point conversion.

The Blue Pony defense also seemed to struggle against the Rustlers offense. However the Pony defense did force and recover a fumble along with an interception. Tristin Manuel shined once again sharing the most tackles of 7 with defensive end John Chinadle. The Ponies never quit as there one score did come in the fourth quarter. Unfortunately one score was not enough as the Blue Ponies JV team lost a tough one 39-8, but a lot can be learned from a loss like this.
