Former Havre Blue Pony Jeremy Jensen is only two weeks into his golf career at MSU-Northern, but he's already having a major impact on the program, and Frontier Conference men's golf.
Jensen fired rounds of 74 and 64 on Sunday and 69 on Monday to finish third at the Rocky Mountain Invitational, which wrapped up Monday at Peter Yegen Golf Club in Billings.
Jensen, who transferred to Northern after a solid two years at North Idaho College shot the low round of the 54-hole tournament with his sensational 64 on Sunday.
As a team, the Northern men finished eighth overall in Billings. The Lights finished the tourney with a team total of 902. Spencer Ratliff shot a three-round total of 220 for the Lights, Brett Normandy shot 240, Matt Hedstron shot 241 and Tony Clark shot 244.
The Skylights finished seventh at the Billings tourney with a three-round team total of 1,052.
The Northern women were consistent the entire tournament with Katie Ross leading at 261. Former Havre High standouts Ali Ward (262), Stacey Sheppard (267), Haley McLain (268) and Tabitha Beck (274) also played well all week. Ross shot the low round of the tournament for the Skylights with an 83 on her second 18 holes on Sunday.
Lewis-Clark State captured the men's team title, and LC State's Drew Reinland earned medalist honors with a 203.
Westminster College won the women's team title, while Kali Stanhope of Montana State-Billings won the individual women's title with a 219.
The Rocky Mountain Invite was the last tournament on the fall schedule for the Lights and Skylights. Northern will resume play in April.
