Ronald Lyle Knudson, 58, of Havre, died of natural causes, Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, at Northern Montana Hospital.

Cremation has taken place under the direction of Holland & Bonine Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on March 2, 2011, at 11 a. m., at Van Orsdel United Methodist Church in Havre, with Pastor Cleve McSwain officiating. Memorials may be given in Ron's name to Feed My Sheep Soup Kitchen or to Van Orsdel United Methodist Church.

Ron was born on Feb. 21, 1953, in Scobey, Mont., to Lyle and Myrtle (Rossing) Knudson. In 1960, his family moved from Scobey to Wolf Point, where he graduated high school in 1971. After the family moved from Scobey to Wolf Point, Ron was lucky enough to work with his brothers and Dad at the family-owned Lyle's Conoco Station. Ron enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1972. He served during the Vietnam era. Ron was lucky enough to find love twice in his life. Ron and Jean Johnston were married on Dec. 29, 1972, in Wolf Point. Jean passed away in 1994. On June 30, 1995, Ron married Betty Brooks Harshman in Chinook.

After his Army service, Ron worked at Trinity Hospital in Wolf Point, as a radiology technician. He later moved his family to Havre, where he attended Northern Montana College. He worked for Northern Montana Hospital, Vita Rich, Havre Clinic and Coca-Cola, served on the City Council and was the DES coordinator for Hill County. His favorite work history was owning and operating Taco Time and the Park Restaurant and Hotel with his wife Betty. In 2009 he retired from the county to enjoy time with his family. His greatest achievement in life was his grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife, Betty Knudson of Havre; sons, D.J. (Kate) Harshman of Havre, Erik (Jessica) Knudson of Henderson, Nev., Ryan Knudson of Missoula, Mont., and Thomas Knudson of the USS Howard; daughter, Trinity (Scott) Cook of Glasgow, Mont. ; sisters, Arlene (Jerry) Neumiller of Wolf Point, Mont., Deborah (Rick) Davies of Chinook, Mont., Shari (Terry) Ekwortzel of Nye, Mont. ; brother, Reed (Tammy) Knudson of Layton, Utah; stepsisters, Kathy Roberts and Kristy Kimball; step-brother, Jim Roberts; many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close cousin Renelle Braaten "Cousin R" and Wayne Koepke; and nine grandchildren.

Ron is preceded in death by his first wife, Jean (Johnston) Knudson; parents, Lyle and Myrtle Knudson; stepmother Lorene Knudson; brother, Steve Knudson; and grandson, Billy Cook.

For all who knew Ron, there are no words to describe him. He was bigger than life.
