Friday deadline to insure winter wheat, alfalfa

The director of the Hill County Farm Service Agency office said agricultural producers face a major deadline Friday if they want coverage in the permanent crop disaster program for winter wheat, alfalfa and alfalfa-grass crops.

Executive Director Mike Zook said farmers must have multiperil crop insurance on those crops for them to be eligible for the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments Program.

"Producers can do that best by contacting their local crop insurance agents, " Zook said.
