It was a successful first round of the Class C 8-Man football playoffs along the Hi-Line as both the Chinook Sugarbeeters and Chester/J-I Hawks rolled to easy first-round victories Saturday afternoon.

In Chinook, the defending state champion Beeters clobbered Culbertson-Bainville 62-16 to advance to the quarterfinals. The 9-0 Beeters will host Drummond Trojans next Saturday in Chinook.

In Chester, the fifth-ranked Hawks kept their season alive by shutting out the Scobey Spartans 36-0. C/J-I was hosting its first playoff game in several years. The Hawks (8-1), who finished second in the Northern C regular season, will now travel to Twin Bridges for a quartefinal showdown next Saturday. Twin Bridges was the No. 1 seed from the Southern C.
