No primaries for city elections this year
Filings for this November's Havre City Council elections ended this afternoon with only one contested race in Ward 3.
That race will be between Republican Rick Dow, who filed earlier today, and incumbent Democrat Bob Kaul, who filed 15 minutes before the deadline.
Kaul had said he was not going to run, but after thinking long and hard about it and discussing it, he decided to go for another term.
The other wards don't even have representation from the both parties.
Republicans Andrew Brekke, in Ward 4, and Brian Barrows, in Ward 2, were both the only candidates to file for their seats.
Democrat Bonnie Parenteau is also running unopposed for the Ward 1 council seat.
