Montana State University-Northern diesel technology student Austin Brug inspects the engine of a Case Magnum 225 tractor that was donated to MSU-N by Torgerson's LLC Thursday morning near the Applied Technology Center. Torgerson's donated over $1 million dollars in farming equipment to the university for students to get hands-on tools to learn state-of-the-art technology. A Case Patriot 4420 sprayer, a Case Steiger 550 tractor, a Case Magnum 290 tractor and a Case Scout XL utility vehicle was also donated to the university.
The university held an event this morning thanking Torgerson's and celebrating its loan of more than $1 million of equipment for the university to use in several of its programs, including diesel technology and agricultural mechanics technology.
Brion Torgerson, general manager of the company, said the loan is a partnership between the university and the farm implement company. It will not only help train "some of the best students in the country," providing workers in Torgerson's own industry, it also will help stimulate the economy and provide growth in the region, he said.
Several members of the faculty of Northern's College of Technology said the loan will ramp up the training immensely. They now will be able to provide hands-on learning with state-of-the-art technology in actual equipment, they said.
