HHS hands out hoops honors

The Havre High boys and girls basketball seasons are in the rearview mirror, but the Blue Ponies recently had their annual awards night, and many different Ponies were honored.

On the boys side, senior Anfernee Standing Rock and junior Logan Connor shared the team MVP Award. Standing Rock led the Ponies in scoring at 18 points per game and rebounds with six on his way to Class A All-State honors. Connor averaged 17 points per game and led HHS in assists on his way to Central A First Team honors.

Senior Ryan Myers was named HHS's Defensive Player of the Year and led the Ponies in steals with 31, while senior Corderro Strickland earned the Most Improved Player Award. Senior Drew Kafka was given the Blue Pony Coaches Award and senior Kade Barsotti was named Most Inspirational.

On the girls side, HHS senior Paighton Gilman was awarded as the team's leading scorer and rebounder. Gilman earned Central A All-Conference honors. Fellow senior Christina Mack was given the Senior Leader Award and she led the Ponies in field goal percentage. Jaclyn Evans was HHS's top 3-point shooter for the season and she led the team in steals while earning all-conference honors.

Havre freshman Peyton Filius earned the Newcomer Award while leading the team in assists this season.
