Ronna (LaMere) Turn Toes, 47, of Rocky Boy, passed away on Friday, Aug. 31, 2012, at her Rocky Boy residence due to complications from diabetes. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 3, at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, with burial in Rocky Boy Cemetery.

Ronna was born on Oct. 1, 1964, to Betty Henderson and Eugene LaMere Sr., in Havre, Mont.

Ronna Turn Toes

She attended school in Rocky Boy and Box Elder, graduating from Box Elder High School in 1982. Ronna went on to attend the Southwest Indian Polytechnic Institute before returning home. She met Rodney Turn Toes Sr. in 1983, and married him on March 9, 1999. To this union three children were born, Ronni Jo LaMere, Rodney B. Turn Toes Jr. and Isaiah Turn Toes. In addition, Ronna and Rodney took in Lane L. Turn Toes and raised him as their own son.

Ronna worked as a dental assistant at Rocky Boy Clinic, a jailer/dispatcher for the Rocky Boy Police Department, fought fires seasonally and was a homemaker. She enjoyed beading and was well-known across Indian Country for the beautiful designs, dimensions and colors, which were mostly one-of-a-kind artifacts. Taking care of her children and grandchildren was an activity she performed with pride, and took great joy in her family. She barrel-raced as a young girl, with a mouthful of snus of course, and was known to get on an occasional bronc. Ronna had a tough demeanor, but she also was very tender-hearted and had a humorous side that left a lasting impression on anyone she encountered. She was generous, and would graciously give the shirt off her back if someone truly needed it.

Ronna was preceded in death by her father, Eugene J. LaMere Sr .; a brother, Eugene J. LaMere Jr .; maternal grandparents, Joe and MaryJane Henderson; and paternal grandparents, Victor LaMere Sr. and Josephine Mosney-St. Marks; along with numerous aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her husband, Rodney B. Turn Toes Sr. of Rocky Boy; her mother, Betty Lee Henderson of Rocky Boy; her children, Ronni Jo LaMere, Rodney (J'Shonn) B. Turn Toes Jr., Isaiah Turn Toes, and Lane Louis Turn Toes, all of Rocky Boy, and LaToya M. Turn Toes (Ronald Round Face Sr.) of Billings; her grandchildren, Shareece J. Raining Bird, Eastyn Turn Toes, Emmersyn Turn Toes, Allyn E. Turn Toes, Angel Nelligan, Katherine Round Face, Ronald Round Face Jr., and an unborn grandchild; her sisters, Billie Jo (Carter) Coffee , and Jody LaMere (Duane) Raining Bird, all of Rocky Boy; her nephew, Jerod R. Coffee of Rocky Boy; and nieces, Shaneen, Bridgett, and Kylee Raining Bird, and Sasha and Carlynn Coffee, all of Rocky Boy.
