Richard L. 'Moldy' Morsette

Richard L. "Moldy" Morsette, 58, died Friday, March 30, 2012, at Northern Montana Hospital, after an undetermined illness. His wake service began Saturday at the home of his mother Delia, Morsette, in Rocky Boy and continued through Sunday 2 p. m.

A wake service was held at Rocky Boy Catholic Church at 7 p. m. on Sunday, with his funeral service 11 a. m. Monday, all at Rocky Boy Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Rocky Boy Cemetery. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.

Richard was born Nov. 21, 1953, in Rocky Boy, to William and Delia Mary (Cross White) Morsette Sr. He was raised and educated in the Rocky Boy area. He attended the United States Bureau of Indian Police Academy in 1978 and worked as a law enforcement officer for BIA at Rocky Boy for many years. Richard enjoyed beading, fishing, hunting, camping and barbecuing. He was an avid boxer and enjoyed riding horses.

He was preceded in death by his father, William Morsette Sr. ; his wife, Tamera Turner; sisters, Cecelia "Puggy' Morsette, Rosie Bernard, Alice Gardipee and Josephine St. Marks; and one granddaughter, Leanna Morsette.

Richard is survived by his daughters, Senica Morsette of Laramie, Wyo., and Laray Morsette of Box Elder; sons, Neil LaMere of Box Elder, Shawn Bell of Billings, Richard Morsette Jr. and Nathan Morsette, both of Box Elder; and sisters Violet (Robert) Oats, Rita Chandler, Veronica (Wayne Healy) Morsette, Vivian (John) Striker Sr., Marla Morsette, Hannah (Eddie) Collins and Shawna (Mike Geboe) Morsette, all of Box Elder; brothers, Larry (Karen) Morsette Sr., Sonny Boy (Dawn) Morsette, Melvin (Shelia) Morsette Sr., Kermit (Wilma) Morsette, Joe Boy (Debra) Morsette and Ronnie (Julie) Morsette, all of Box Elder; and 21 grandchildren.
