Laura Anne Fucito

Sister Laura Anne Fucito, O.P. passed peacefully away on May 21, 2012, in Calvary Hospital, Bronx, New York. Born in New York on July 9, 1944, she entered the Dominican Sisters of Sparkill, New York on Sept. 8, 1962. She professed her first vows in 1964 and her final vows in 1969.

Throughout her life, Laura was a teacher and then a pastoral associate. She served in the Archdiocese of New York and the Diocese of Great Falls–Billings. She taught elementary school at St. Gregory Barbarigo, Garnerville, N.Y., St. Christopher, Red Hook, N.Y., St. Helena, Bronx, N.Y., and the Mission Grade School in Hays, Mont. From 1977 to the present, she was pastoral associate at St. Thomas Church in Lodge Pole. She served the Lodge Pole/Hays communities for 36 years.

We will remember Laura for her great determination to live life to its fullest. Her compassionate and caring ways have endeared her to the people with whom she worked daily. Her trust in the God she served so faithfully for 50 years was especially evident in her acceptance of her illness these past years. We thank Laura for her life as a Dominican Sister of Sparkill. May she rest in peace and joy in the arms of her loving God.

Vigil Services were held in Lodge Pole on Thursday, May 24, 2012, and in Sparkill, N.Y., at the Dominican Sisters' Motherhouse.

Mass of the Resurrection was celebrated in Lodge Pole and in Sparkill on Friday, May 25, 2012.
