Brockie, Windy Boy, Richman win

Clarena Brockie has apparently unseated State Rep. Tony Belcourt of Box Elder in Tuesday's Democratic primary in House District 32 by three votes, 370-367.

Belcourt did well in his home county of Hill, while Brockie cleaned up in Blaine County.

Under state law, a recount is mandated in elections that close.

Sen. Jonathan Windy Boy has been re-nominated, defeating his predecessor, Frank Smith of Poplar, 800 to 598. Windy Boy carried the eastern part of his Senate District 16, while Smith carried the western part.

In the case of Brockie and Windy Boy, they are unopposed in the fall election. The district is heavily Democratic.

Don Richman easily won the GOP nomination in Senate District 17, defeating Doug Stuart 1,240to 378. He now faces Democrat Greg Jergeson.
