Blue Pony sports set to heat up

Havre High School student-athletes will start getting very busy over the next week.

Important upcoming dates include Thursday when the Havre High golf team starts practicing, and Friday when the Blue Pony football team hits the field for the first time. Monday is the first day of practice for the Blue Pony volleyball and cross country teams, and then

The Pony golfers open the season with a home tournament at prairie Farms Golf Course on Aug, 16, and HHS will also play at home on Sept. 8 when they host the Havre Invite at Beaver Creek Golf Course. Havre will attend the Central A Divisional Sept. 22 in Livingston and the season ends with the Class A state tournament Sept. 28-29 at Old Works Golf Course in Anaconda.

August 18 will be a big day for the HHS football and volleyball teams as each will host its annual Blue/White Scrimmages that Saturday.

The Ponies then open the football season Aug. 25 at Whitefish. Havre makes its home debut the next Friday against Butte Central, and also plays home games Sept. 14 against Sidney, Sept. 21 against Belgrade, which is also Homecoming, Oct. 5 against Libby and Oct. 12 against Browning. The Class A playoffs begin Oct. 27.

The HHS volleyball team opens the season Aug. 31 and Sept. 1 with a triangular in Belgrade and the Windy City Classic in Livingston. The Ponies make their home debut against Choteau on Sept. 22 and also have home matches against CMR on Sept. 27, Conrad on Oct. 6, Browning on Oct. 11, Lewistown on Oct. 26 and Livingston and Belgrade on Oct. 27. The Central A Divisional is set Nov. 2-3 in Belgrade and the Class A state tourney will take place Nov. 8-10 in Bozeman.

Finally, the HHS cross country teams open the season Aug. 31 at the Cut Bank Time Trials. The Pony runners will be at home twice this season, hosting the Havre Invitational on Sept. 22 and the Central A Divisional on Oct. 13. The Class A state races are set for Oct. 20 in Helena.
