There are plenty of questions to be answered on Wednesday afternoon at the Havre Middle School Track.
Can anyone unseat the North Star girls as District 9C track and field champions? Does anyone have the power to stay with th

e Chinook boys? Will individuals like Kayla Hanson, Lisa Carlon, Molly Herron, Kaylan Johnson and others set new meet records?
All of those questions and more will be answered Wednesday at the District 9C Meet which will be held at the Havre Middle School Track.
The North Star girls and Chinook boys are the defending 9C champions, and the Knights haven't been knocked off in four years.
North Star, under veteran head coach Brian Campbell is the heavy favorite again on Wednesday on the girls side. The Knights have a ton of depth, led by Lisa and Bettie Carlon in the jumps. Lisa Carlon is a returning state placer and the Knights are very strong in the long and triple jump. But they also will get big points from sprinter Haylee Anderson, as well as senior Shelby Lipp in the throws.
But winning the 9C meet isn't just about a few individuals. North Star should also get points from Delainey Spicher and Mackenzie Hansen in the hurdles, and both the Knights' 400 and 1,600 relay teams are very, very good.
Big Sandy and Chinook will be the main teams trying to catch the Knights in the girls' meet.
The Sugarbeeters are led by Hanson, who's swept the 100 and 300 hurdles in each of the last three meets. She's also a returning state champion in the hurdles, but as has also done well in the jumps this season. Madison McCann should do well in the jumps and sophomore Makhayla Farmer is a top contender in the throws.
The Pioneers are led by standout distance runner Molly Herron. Just a sophomore, Herron is a favorite to capture the Class C state title in the 800 meters this season, but she's excellent in all distances. Mateila Cline is another strong runner, while Quintin Pegar will anchor the Pioneers in the sprints.
The boys meet has been dominated by Chinook in recent years, and the Beeters are very strong once again.
Kaylan Johnson is perhaps the top distance runner in the Northern C, and is a contender at state as well. Brandon Riphenburg is an outstanding sprinter, while Dylan Surber is tough in the middle distances. Chinook will also get points from its outstanding relay teams, while Zach Molyneaux is a big favorite in the throws.
Big Sandy could challenge the Beeters, as the Pioneers are tough in the sprints with Trevor Lackner and Justin Stevens, as well as in the middle distances. The Pioneers also have a pair of strong relay teams, which is another place to make up points. Jessey Bailey and Kaden Beck also do well in the throws.
North Star is the wildcard on the boys side, as the trio of Cooper Spicher, Donoven Ulmen and Quinn Spinler could score in multiple events.
Hays-Lodge Pole has a strong set of throwers, while Box Elder's William Ketchum is a solid contender in all three distance races. Turner always has a host of strong boys, including Dusty Mohar in the hurdles and jumps.
The District 9C track meet begins Wednesday morning at the Havre Middle School Track. The top five placers in each event will advance to the Northern C Divisional next week at Memorial Stadium in Great Falls.
