United repeat as state champions in Great Falls

The Hi-Line United U19 soccer program did it again.

Over the weekend, playing in the state tournament in Great Falls, the United defended last season's state championship with yet another state title.

The United battled through four games over the weekend, finishing the season with a win over the Big Timber Wolves in the championship match on Sunday afternoon.

The United beat the Wolves in the final match of the Montana Classic Division.

At the end of regulation, the United and Wolves were locked in a 4-4 tie. The weather was less than favorable, so instead of two 45 minute halves, the match consisted of two 30 minute halves. And instead of playing two 10 minute halves to break the tie, the title game went straight to penalty kicks. And winning the shootout 4-1, the United were crowned as state champions for the second straight year.

Hi-Line also tied Miles City 5-5, and tied Lewistown 3-3, and defeated Miles City 2-1 on the weekend.

The United played a total of two games on Friday, one on Saturday, and their dramatic championship match on Sunday.
