She was born to Ludwig and Nora Hanson on Sept. 18, 1915, in Fargo, N.D. Helen was the third- oldest in a family of 12 children and the only one born in a hospital. She attended school in the West Fargo area and graduated in 1933 from Castleton High School.

In her early 20s, she and a friend left North Dakota, took the train west and ended up in Havre, Mont., where she spent most of her adult life. She and Norman Blythe were married July 8, 1938. They had a daughter Vicky. Norman passed away in 1971. Helen was fortunate to meet and marry Orville Larson in 1975, and the blending of two families has created bonds and love that will go on forever. Orville died in 1991.

Helen moved to Missoula in 1997 where she lived at the Village Senior Residence for nine years. The past six years she had been at Bee Hive Homes where she has been able to enjoy an active life. The family wishes to thank Corrie DeMott and her staff at Bee Hive for the loving care they have bestowed upon Helen all these years.

Survivors include her daughters and their families, Vicky Hammond (Dick Scharfe) of Missoula, Kay (Dick) Wynecoop of Wellpinit, Wash., and Karen (Larry) Gookin of Ellensburg, Wash.
