Jonathan 'Jon' Earl Mullinex

Jonathan "Jon" Earl Mullinex was born on Oct. 3, 1985, to Charlene Ahenakew and Shane Mullinex. He was affectionately known as "Mo-ni-yahw. " Jon passed on and went home to the Creator on Wednesday, April 11, 2012. When Jon was just three years old, he was adopted by Janice and Lawrence Myers. Janice and Lawrence loved Jon very much and accepted and embraced him as one of their own from then on. Jon was a very kind and humble young man. Although he was quiet and reserved, Jon had one of the highest IQ scores from Rocky Boy High School.

Jon's greatest joy in life was spending time with and helping take care of his nephew Trevor. Jonathan was a certified care provider and sought out those credentials just so he could help properly care for his Trevor. Jonathan would do anything to support and encourage Trevor's development. Trevor and Jon had a deep emotional connection, and Jon loved spending time with him.

Throughout his life, Lawrence and Janice were a strong influence on his life. Jonathan received his diploma from Rocky Boy High School, and he was planning on attending Stone Child College this upcoming semester to further his education. He was looking forward to a change and starting something new. He had also spent some time as a firefighter, and he enjoyed helping build sweat for the family.

In addition, Jonathan had begun playing and discovered a hidden talent and fondness for "Stick Game. " Jonathan became very anxious when it came to talking about the next upcoming hand game tournament and had planned on following along with Janice at the next tournament. He also loved and cherished spending time with his family and enjoyed snowboarding.

Jonathan had many loved ones who cared for him and are truly going to miss his smile. He is survived by sisters, Crystal, Lisa, April, Lenore and Jackie; his brothers, David and Roland "Ponch; " and, of course, his best friend and nephew, Trevor.

Jonathan's pall bearers include Ryan Tre Myers, Keenan Cree Myers, Neal Tate Albert, John Oxford, Clyde "Bug" Brown, Roland "Ponch" Myers, Orlando Stanley and Gordon Ahenakew Jr. Honorary pall bearers include Chad Lawrence Myers, Bing Ahenakew Jr., Jason Ahenakew, William Ahenakew and Doug Ahenakew.

Wake service for Jon was held April 12, 2012, in Great Falls, at the Indian Family Center located at the Great Falls fairgrounds. Memorial services were conducted at 10 a. m., April 13, 2012, with burial following at the Highland Cemetery in Great Falls.

Jonathan was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Norval Austin and Victoria Ahenakew, and George and Babe Gopher; grandfather, Melvin Ahenakew; and a grandmother on the Mullinex side of his family.
