MSU-N's Wagner riding at CNFR

Montana State University-Northern cowboy Robert Wagner is competing well in his first chance at a national championship.

Wagner is in Casper, Wyo., competing in the saddle bronc riding at the College National Finals Rodeo. Wagner is a junior from Browning.

In the first go-around, Wagner scored a 61.5 and was sitting in 21st place in the overall saddle bronc standings.

Wagner, however, made a big jump in the third go-around on Tuesday night, riding to a score of 71 points. That ride came one day after being bucked off in the second round.

Wagner currently sits in third place in the round and in fifth place in the overall standings.

Wagner is the first MSU-Northern cowboy or cowgirl to compete in the CNFR since 2010.

The CNFR continues through this weekend in Wyoming.
