Dow disses police

Wow! Mr. Dow, what an insult to the Havre Police Department, painting them as a bunch of bungling buffoons. Please give them more credit than that. That being said, the option of law enforcement and firefighters using cellphones was left in the ordinance for safety reasons. If the chiefs or mayor decide to restrict usage to emergencies, we gave them that option.

Now, as for your what if:

What if your wife called and told you to go and get some milk from IGA; you go out and jump in your trusty old truck and off you go. While en route up 5th Avenue, the stock app on your smart phone alerts you about a hot stock you've been trying to buy — got to take this one, just a second! All of a sudden you feel a bump, you look up and around and in your rear view mirror you see a crumpled mass. You stop your truck and run back, and much to your horror you realize that you have just run over your child's best friend. You hope that the child is OK, but most of the time they don't fair so well against the hard steel of a truck. Good news, though, you got your stock.
