Rocky Boy players were stars during Paint Conrad Pink

Editor:

About a week ago, we put out a request to the Rocky Boy community and team to arrive in Conrad for a volleyball game and help us Paint Conrad Pink in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Just to follow up, Rocky Boy and the Morning Stars rocked it and were truly stars.

Having their team and coaches all in pink was memorable in our gym and, in fact, showed that our communities can unite for a great cause. But I wanted to tell your readers one more thing.

We had a local breast cancer survivor speak briefly about her story of fight and survival just before the varsity game. When she finished her amazing story; your Morning Stars all came over unprompted and individually embraced our speaker. Their lead prompted our own Cowgirls to do the same. If I cannot convey this with words, suffice it to say that this was one of the most touching moments I have ever been a part of in a gymnasium.

Publicly, I would like to thank those girls and coaches for making our night special. Our speaker was in my office today. She was so touched by their kindness. They helped create a memory she will never forget and frankly neither will I. On behalf of our speaker, Betty Olson, the Pondera County Health Department and the community of Conrad ... hats off to the Rocky Boy Morning Stars. You earned our respect.

Cynthia Grubb RN

Pondera County Health Dept Director
