Hot weather expected to return next week

After a temporary respite, with weather dipping into chilly temperatures and some rain falling in the area, weather forecasters are predicting a return to hot temperatures next week.

Most of the week in north-central Montana the temperatures stayed higher than originally expected, with the high Tuesday a hot 94 degrees at the reporting station at the Havre City-County Airport. Friday's National Weather Service forecast called for a high of 80 on Tuesday.

But, following a rainstorm that dropped just less than a quarter-of-an-inch at the airport Tuesday night, the temperatures dropped to a high of 66 with a low of 43 Wednesday.

The high Thursday was 79 with a low 38, a new record, and the Weather Service forecast for today was with a high of 83 and a low of 49.

Weather service predicts the high temperatures in Havre to climb into the 80s over the weekend, breaking into the 90s by Monday. By Wednesday, its forecast calls for highs to drop back into the 80s, with lows in the 50s throughout the period.

The Weather Service forecast mirrors that of Accuweather.com, which predicts lower 90s for highs Monday and Tuesday, dropping back into the mid- to upper-80s the rest of the week.

The Weather Channel also has a similar forecast, predicting highs of 90 on Sunday and Wednesday and 93 and 92 for Monday and Tuesday, respectively, before the temperatures drop into the upper 80s later in the week.
