Blue Ponies dual Great Falls High

The Havre High track and field teams are in a busy portion of the schedule and it continues today.

This afternoon at 3, the Ponies will be at home to host the Great Falls High Bison in a dual meet at the Havre Middle School Track.

HHS duals both the Class AA Bison and CMR Rustlers every other season, alternating home dates.

The Blue Ponies are coming off a strong showing at the Havre Lions Invitational last Saturday. The Pony girls took a solid second place with outstanding perfromances from the likes of Sammy Evans, Peyton Filius, Ashlynn Van Voast and Kaylie Gilman. The Havre girls look strong in almost every area, as Evans and Gilman are solid in the jumps, while Lacey Waid leads the vaulters. Van Voast is outstanding in the hurdles, while Filius continues to shine in the distance events. Havre's depth is also shining through with Jennifer Nordgulen and Corissa White having a good season as well.

At the Havre Invite, the Pony boys finishes third and were led by sprinter Mason Case. For the second straight meet, Case swept the 100 and 200-meter races, while teammate Tyson Kultgen also gives HHS depth in the sprints.

Thurman Holdsclaw is looking good in the jumps, as well as the pole vault. The vault a strong point for the Pony boys with Thomas Gruber, Matt Emge and Zach Plum all placing last Saturday in Havre. Joey DeVries and Kade Rismon also give the Ponies good depth in the throws.

Today's meet starts is part of a continuing grind for the Ponies, who will also trek to Belgrade for the Belgrade Invitational on Saturday. Havre then turns around and heads to the Malta Invite next Tuesday.

Today's dual with GFH will start at 3 at the Havre Middle School Track.
