Lights sharp on both sides of the ball in second scrimmage

The Montana State University-Northern football team will be playing Carroll College next Friday night under the Lights at Blue Pony Stadium.

And the Lights took another important step towards being ready for the Saints by holding their second scrimmage of the fall on Thursday night at the Havre Middle School football field.

Throngs of fans came out to see the Lights, who's No. 1 offense moved the ball well, while the No. 1 defense also looked good, getting two big turnovers on the night.

Offensive highlights included a nearly 50-yard revers for a touchdown by senior Kyle Johnston, while Orin Johnson scored a rushing touchdown out of the "wildcat" formation.

Defensively, the Lights had two intercpetions on the night, while former Havre Blue Pony Jordan Van Voast, a starting linebacker for the Lights, also boomed several punts on the night.

Northern now has seven days to get ready for the No. 2 Saints, who come to Havre on Aug. 24 for a season-opening game, which starts at 6:30 p.m.
