Local Golf Report: First half of Prairie men's league ends

Despite the wet weather, golf leagues, and now tournaments are in high gear in Havre and along the Hi-Line.

And at Prairie Farms Golf Course, both league play and tournaments took center stage this past week.

The tournament season really got rolling with the annual Natalie Patrick Memorial Tournament Saturday afternoon at Prairie Farms. The tournament, hosted by the Patrick family, is a fund raiser in which many funds raised are poured back into the community in the name of Natalie Patrick (see related story today). And while the Natalie Patrick tourney is one of the most popular on the summer circuit, there's plenty more tournament play ahead, as this weekend Prairie Farms hosts the Northern Lights Athletic Scholarship Foundation tournament, which as another four-person, 18-hole scramble. The following week, the women will own the course as the annual Havre Women Fighting Breast Cancer Tournament will be held June 30 at Prairie.

Meanwhile, last Tuesday and Wednesday brought the end to the first half of men's league golf at Prairie Farms with the top four teams from each night advancing to the playoffs which start near the end of August.

On Tuesday night, Schubert Agency finished in first place with 163.5 points. Bing-N-Bob's was second with 161. Followed by Patrick Construction at 156.5 and Korb Construction at 146.5. Korb won the fourth-place spot in a tiebreaker over Stockman Bank.

Last Tuesday also saw Bing-N-Bob's earn high-team honors with 23 points, while Matt Hedstrom shot a 2-under par 34 for low gross. Brett Normandy was low net with a 30.
