Babe Ruth city tournament underway despite the rain

The Havre Youth Baseball season is coming to a close, and the Babe Ruth City tournament is now underway.

The tournament, which features three Havre teams and a squad from Chinook began on Monday night with two first-round games.

However, Tuesday night's games were rained out, meaning the tournament will continue with two games tonight and the final round scheduled for Thursday night.

On Monday night, Chinook beat Optimist 13-10 as the Chinook squad rallied from eight runs down.

In the second outing Monday night, Northern Montana Hospital took down Wells Fargo 9-1. NMH is the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament after finishing the regular season with the best overall record.

Tonight, NMH will square off against Chinook in the winner's bracket and Optimist will play Wells Fargo in the loser-out game. The winner of the NMH/Chinook game will move on to the championship game Thursday night at 7:30 p.m., while the loser will play the winner of the Wells Fargo/Optimist game at 5:30 p.m. with a chance to advance to Thursday night's title game.

The Babe Ruth tournament is a true double-elimination format, so the undefeated team in the championship game will have to be beaten twice.
