HHS spikers fall to Eagles

Thursday night didn't play out how the Havre High volleyball team had planned at all.

Instead of recording a conference win in the Central A, the Lewistown Golden Eagles defeated the Blue Ponies in four games. Lewistown won game one 25-15, while the Ponies rebounded for a game two win by score of 25-17. But the Eagles capitalized yet again, beating the Ponies 25-20 and 25-14 in games three and four respectively.

"I thought we were on the right track," Havre High head coach Melanie Skoyen said. "But hopefully this was just a hiccup. But this really showed me that mentally we have a lot to work on. They basically served us off the court and that took us out of our game completely."

Like Skoyen said, the Eagles served the Ponies off the court. They served very tough for fourth straight games, and never let HHS get settled in. The Ponies' serve receive struggled, and from there, the offense never got rolling.

On the night the Ponies had 35 kills, one ace, seven blocks, 30 assists, and 32 digs. Sarah Armstrong led with 14 kills and four blocks. Sadie Seidel also had seven kills, while Brandy Lambourne led with nine digs and the only ace. Peyton Filius also had 26 assists and seven digs.

The Ponies are now 3-5 overall and 0-1 in the conference. They retake the court on Saturday to take on the Choteau Bulldogs at home at approximately 1 p.m. at the Havre High gymnasium.
