Story on 'Obama Outhouse' upsets visitor to Havre

Editor:

As an Amtrak traveler, I like to get the local newspaper at train stations to learn more about the towns and states I visit. On Monday, I purchased a Havre Daily News at the Havre station.

On page A2, I found an AP story that provides a very troubling view of the recent Montana Republican Convention held in Missoula.

Parked right outside the GOP Convention at Missoula's Hilton Garden Inn was a bullet-riddled "Obama Outhouse," labeled "Obama Presidential Library," which contained a false birth certificate and derogatory comments about Michelle Obama. It was painted to look as if the outhouse had numerous bullet holes.

To read this AP story, one might imagine that the outhouse display caused no alarm and was not removed from outside the GOP Convention.

No one knows who was responsible, but it is clear that no action was taken to denounce this vile display. In fact, it was also used in the Memorial Day parade in Corvallis in Ravalli County.

I have a question for the residents of Missoula, Corvallis and Havre. Who has the decency to speak out and make sure that the Montana GOP, or any other group in the state, never again allows the "Obama Outhouse" at their events?

I hope to get a more positive view of your state.
