Yvonne Dahlin

Yvonne Dahlin, was called home after her 9-year battle with breast cancer on Sunday, Aug., 19, 2012. She was surrounded by her loving family.

Yvonne was born Jan. 9, 1940, in Havre, Mont. She was one of eight children born to Charles and Helen (Peterson) Gould. Her mother passed when she was a young girl, which left her to take on many responsibilities at an early age.

Yvonne attended school in Havre and graduated from Havre High School. She married John "Jack" Dahlin on July 3, 1958, and together they made their home on the Dahlin family ranch south of Havre and raised their five children. Yvonne worked alongside her husband Jack for many years working the cattle, brandings and harvests. She was a wonderful hostess, always having a hot meal or drink for anyone who was at her home.

Yvonne was a devoted wife and mother. She was a kind and gracious woman with a strong moral character. She always placed others' needs before her own. She was always there to lend a helping hand, even when you thought you didn't need it. She enjoyed family and had many happy memories of the gathering and events that they all shared together camping, fishing or just picnicking in the Bear Paw Mountains. She loved to travel. Whether it was to see family or just to see a new place, Yvonne was always ready to go. She visited many places, her highlights being Alaska, Florida, Hawaii, Arizona, Iowa and North Dakota.

She enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, attending her Bible study, being outdoors and riding her four-wheeler around the ranch. Yvonne enjoyed making gifts for family and friends. She was very talented with sewing, knitting, crocheting and quilting, All of her handmade gifts were made with such detail and love. She was a dispatcher for many years for the Bear Paw Volunteer Fire Department and was also a first responder and taught first-responder educational classes for a few years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Chuck Gould; and her husband, Jack Dahlin in 2000.

Yvonne is survived by her sons, Buck (Suzanne) Dahlin of Harlem, Mont .; Derek, Dusty and Wyatt Dahlin, all of Havre, Mont .; her daughter, Connie (Brian) Janke of Dickinson, N.D .; her seven grandchildren, Justin, Jade, Emily, John, Patrick, Daisy and Connor; her three brothers, Benton (Lita) Gould of Chinook, Mont., Floyd (Doris) Gould of Great Falls, Mont., and Roland (Peggy Jo) Gould of Havre; three sisters, Irene (Ralph ) Prince of Surprise, Ariz,, Carol (Paul) Chagnon of Havre, Mont., and Mary Light of Parker, Ariz .; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 24, 2012, at First Lutheran Church, with Pastor Michael O'Hearn officiating. A fellowship will be held at the Eagles immediately after the service. A private family burial will be held. Services and arrangements have been entrusted to Holland & Bonine Funeral Home.
