Havre hits 89 degrees, new record high

Summer-like temperatures across the region set new records, with Havre posting a top temperature 4 degrees higher than the previous top mark.

The National Weather Service reports that, at its recording station at the Havre City-County Airport west of town, the thermometer topped out at 89 degrees. The previous record high for April 23 was 85 degrees, set in 1998.

Temperatures were high across the region, with Weather Service reporting Chinook hit a high of 88. Across the state, highs were mostly in the mid- to upper-80s, with the state high 91 in Miles City.

The temperature was a staggering 93 degrees higher than the record low of -4, set April 23, 1967.

The weather is expected to moderate through the week, with forecast high temperatures dropping to the 50s and low 60s by the weekend, and a chance of showers and thundershowers through most of the week and a 60 percent chance of precipitation Thursday night and Friday.
