The 2012 prep football season got underway over the weekend, but there wasn't much local action on the Hi-Line.

Two teams got their season's rolling with wins on Saturday.

The Northern C 8-Man Chinook Sugarbeeters opened their season at home, and earned a win doing so. The Sugarbeeters defeated the rival Power-Dutton-Brady Titans 27-0.

But it wasn't the overpowering Beeters that fans have grown accustom to over the last several seasons. Typically a powerhouse running team, the Beeters came out firing through the air. And while it took some time for the passing game to start producing, the Beeters stuck with it for a relatively balanced offense.

Chinook didn't score any of their touchdowns through the air, but several key and big gains through the air, did set up rushing scores. Zach Molyneaux, who split time at quarterback and running backv scored three rushing touchdowns. Molyneaux scored on a 45 yard run, a 13-yard run, and on a three yard run. Robby Klingaman also got in on the action, scoring on a three yard run in the fourth quarter.

Chester/J-I 40, Simms 0

The 10C Chester/J-I Hawks also kicked off a new season with a dominating win.

The Hawks defeated Simms 40-0. C/J-I used 20 points in the first quarter to take the lead over Simms, and the Hawks never let up. They added eight points in the second quarter, six in the third and six more in the fourth. Quarterback Eric Kelly also tossed four TD passes for the Hawks.

With a week under their belts, the Hawks and Beeters will now meet in a huge Northern C showdown Friday night in Chester.
