Local Summer Sports Camps

Skylights Basketball Camps

Montana State University-Northern women's head basketball coach Chris Mouat is offering three summer basketball camps. Skylight Youth Camp-June 4-7, for girls entering grades K-6. Kindergarten through third graders meet from 8-10 a.m. daily, while campers entering grades 4-6 meet from 11 a.m.-1p.m. Instruction is provided by Skylight staff and players. All campers receive a T-shirt and drawstring backpack. Various other prizes are awarded. The focus of the camp is instruction in basic basketball fundamentals. Campers in grades 4-6 will play some 5 on 5 games. Cost is $55 with group and family discounts available. Skylight Camp-June 10-13, for girls entering grades six-12. The camp focuses on a combination of fundamentals and competition. 5 on 5, 3 on 3, fastbreak league, and a situational/mini game tournament highlight group competitions. Campers will also participate in a number of individual competitions. Skill development, with a focus on defensive techniques, shooting, and guard and post play sessions are also a focus of the camp. All campers receive a T-shirt and drawstring backpack. Prizes are awarded for all competitions. Overnight campers will stay in supervised dormatories. Cost for dorm and all meals campers is $260. Day campers purchasing meals — lunch and dinner — pay $195, while day campers with no meals pay $140. Group and family discounts are available. Northern Select Camp-for girls entering grades 9-12. The camp is geared for competitive, experienced players and is limited in enrollment. Competition takes place in 5 on 5, 3 on 3, and 1 on 1. Teams play in a round-robin format and a tournament, as well as an all-star game. In addition, post and perimeter individual improvement sessions are provided. College coaches will be in attendance with the sole purpose of recruiting in mind. Instruction and coaching are provided by Skylight staff, current, and former Skylight players, and coaches from throughout Montana. Camp cost is $180, which includes supervised dormatory stay and all meals. All campers receive two T-shirts and opportunities to win awards for all competitions. Skylight Volleyball Camps

Kids Camp will be July 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and July 24 and 25 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. It will be held at Havre Middle School, located at 1441 11th Street West. The cost is $55 per camper. The Skylights Kids Camp is for girls entering fifth-eighth grade. We will teach basic skills highlighting the fun you can have with volleyball and promoting all the positive aspects of sports. Team Camp will be July 27 and 28 and will be held at Havre Middle School, located at 1441 11th Street West. The cost is $275 per team and no lodging will be available. The MSU Northern Team Camp offers a fantastic opportunity to pull your team together and push toward peak performance while preparing for the upcoming season. This camp will provide several competitive live game experiences. These playing experiences will develop your team's dynamics, skill and ability to work together. A minimum of eight players per team, all freshman, junior varsity, and varsity teams are welcomed. Skills Camp will be July 30-Aug. 1 and will be held at Havre Middle School, located at 1441 11th street West. This will be for girls entering ninth-12th grade. Dorm and all meals camper is $175, Day camper with meals is $150, and Day camper without meals is $100. This Skills Camp offers training that will help players improve individual skills as well as develop team concepts. A variety of fast-paced drill and learning situations will give athletes many opportunities to develop as individual and team players. We want each camper to leave camp with a greater understanding of the game of volleyball and skills they can use in their upcoming season. Havre Bear Paw Wrestling Camp

Havre High head wrestling coach Scott Filius is once again holding the Havre Bear Paw Wrestling Camp. The camp is a unque experience as it's held at Kiwanis in Beaver Creek Park. This year's camp will run from July 7-11. The camp costs $190 and that includes lodging, meals, 20 hours of clinical instruction and four hours of situational and live wrestling. Camp instructors include Filius, former Butte High coach Jim Street, Blue Pony assistant coach Chad Edgar, Billings Skyview head coach Dave Malia, Great Falls High head coach Steve Komac, CMR head coach Aaron Jensen, and ex-Havre Blue Ponies Evan Hinebauch, Beau LaSalle and Kent Pattison. Havre Tennis Camp

Havre High head tennis coach George Ferguson will be conducting a two-day tennis camp on Aug. 6-7 at the Bill Vaughey Memorial Tennis Courts in Havre. The camp is open to youths entering grades 3-12 and will feature all aspects of tennis from beginning basics to advanced techniques and match play. The camp will run from 12:30 p.m.-3 p.m. each day. Cost is one can of tennis balls per camper. Prizes will be awarded and each camper should bring a tennis racket and water each day. Blue Pony Boys Basketball Camps

New Havre High head boys basketball coach Curt Leeds will be conducting the Blue Pony boys basketball camp this summer. The camp is open to grades 8-12 and registration deadline is June 26. Registration forms can be picked up at Havre High School.

Blue Pony Fun Run Camp

The Havre High cross country team and head coach Kyle Fisher will be hosting a running camp July 25-28 at the Havre High soccer fields. For more information, contact Fisher at 265-6732.
