MSU-Northern's Nagy honored for volleyball

It's not even September yet, but the Montana State University-Northern athletic's department has its first Frontier Conference Player of the Week award.

Northern junior volleyball player Joni Nagy was named Frontier Conference Volleyball Player of the Week on Monday afternoon.

Nagy is a 5-foot-9 junior setter from Chattaroy, Wash. Northern went 4-1 in the inaugural weekend of the Frontier Conference vs Cascade Conference Red Lion Challenge. The Skylights beat Northwest University 3-1, Corban College 3-0, Northwest Christian 3-0 and Evergreen College 3-0, and lost 1-3 to Eastern Oregon.

Nagy averaged 2.82 kills with a .385 hitting percentage. She also averaged 3.59 digs and 6.24 assists. Nagy had two triple doubles during the weekend. Against Eastern Oregon she had 13 kills, 24 assists and 24 digs. Against Northwestern University she had 11 kills, 22 assists and 16 digs.

Also nominated: Jamie Elenbaas of Rocky Mountain College, Kimmy Kavran of Montana Tech, Keisha Luebbert-Kennedy of Lewis-Clark State, Ashley Marchant of Westminster College, Kathleen Mulligan of Carroll College and Kelsey Van Uden of the University of Great Falls.
