Alleged Box Elder shooter held on $500,000 bail

Garrison Henderson, the alleged shooter arrested in Box Elder Monday, went to Justice Court Wednesday, where he heard his rights and had a preliminary hearing set for Dec. 13.

The 19-year-old Box Elder resident is facing a pending felony charge of attempted deliberate homicide and is being held on $500,000 bond.

Hill County Sheriff's Deputy Peter Federspiel's description of the event, in both the initial incident report and the Justice Court charging document, explains that the initial report was of gunfire exchange, but further investigation discovered that Henderson was the sole shooter, and Jarod Parker was his target.

"(Parker) told me that he was parked behind Henderson at the gas pump at Jitterbugs, " Federspiel said in the charging document. "Parker thought he was going to get into a fight with Henderson when Henderson started yelling at him. Henderson then went back to his pickup and pulled out a rifle and came up to Parker's pickup and struck the window with the rifle. The rifle stock broke and Henderson returned to his pickup. Henderson then turned around and fired about 6-8 rounds hitting the truck at least one time in the windshield just above Parker's head. Parker stated that Samantha Davey was also in the truck with her 3-year old daughter. After firing the rounds at Parker Henderson fled from the area. "

A report came in that "a pickup crashed into several cars parked at the Box Elder School. " Federspiel found the truck, still at the school, though Henderson had fled.

He was eventually tracked down "to a field northwest of the school, " where he was arrested.

Justice of the Peace Audrey Barger said she decided on the $500,000 bond after hearing about the 3-year-old girl in the truck that Henderson shot.

The Sheriff's Office initial incident report lists the evidence found, including several. 22 rounds, including one still inside a. 22 Marlin rifle; a rifle stock; and two bottles, one emptied, of Black Velvet.
