Local golf report: Rain returns to wreak havoc with golf

I may have jinxed the golfing weather, or by giving mother nature too much praise, upset her a little.

The rains came with a vengeance in Havre this past week, and at the worst time. Memorial Day Weekend is typically one of the busiest golf weekend's of the year, but torrential rain, wind and yes, even some snow mixed in put a damper on golf around the area the last few days.

Still, leagues are in full swing and the ladies got their season under way last Thursday night at Prairie Farms Golf Course.

Independent Inspection opened the season by earning 29.5 points for high-team honors. The team is composed of Lindsay Kellam, Davilyn McCormick, Liz McIntosh and Ginger Zanto. Low gross went to Ali Ward with a 42 and Debbie Callahan took low net with a 33.5.

Last Tuesday night saw Schubert score 22 points to earn high-team honors in men's league action at Prairie Farms. Independence Bank scored 24.5 points to earn high team on Wednesday night. No individual scores were reported from last week's action at Prairie.

In Thursday night men's league action at Beaver Creek Golf Course, Hi-Way Bar earned high-team honors with 24 points. Justin Hawley was low gross with a 38 and Don Miller was low net for the night.
