John M. Kralich
John M. Kralich, 80, of Big Sandy, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, of natural causes. Private family services will be held in the spring. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Association. Holland & Bonine Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
John was born on Jan. 2, 1933, in Black Eagle, Mont., to Matt and Mary (Stanish) Kralich.
He was raised in Black Eagle, spending his junior high and high school summers in Big Sandy. John purchased his first land at 16, and farmed for 65 years. Following high school, he joined the U. S. Army, and served until his honorable discharge in 1961.
He married his country gal, Shirley Tyler, on March 27, 1961, and she helped farm so he could work on the railroad as a conductor, retiring after 50 years.
John enjoyed fishing and especially his elk hunting trips to Utica. He was a member of the American Legion, the VFW, the Elks, Eagles and the Big Sandy Rotary.
John was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley Kralich of Big Sandy; his children, Rickie Jo Tyler of Great Falls, Mark John (Angie) Kralich of Havre and Denise Jolene Kralich (Wade Rigg) of Rudyard; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his faithful companion, Charlie the Dog, who always rode to town with him, scoring food from John's friends.
