North Star's Tylynn Rettig has already had a standout school year in sports. But she's taken the spring by

storm. Rettig helped the Knights to the Cal Wearley track and field meet tittle last Wednesday by placing in five events. In Havre, Rettig won the 100-meter dash and finished a narrow second in the 200. She also finished third in the long jump and fourth in the triple jump, and for good measure, placed in the pole vault as well. Rettig is part of North Star's defending state championship girls team.

Zach Hellegaard, Havre Tennis

The spring sports season is off to a great start, and so is Havre High junior tennis player Zach Hellegaard. Playing his third year of varsity tennis, Hellegaard has reeled off a four-match winning streak to start his season. Included in that is a Havre Invitational singles title last Saturday at the Bill Vaughey Memorial Tennis Courts. Hellegaard defeated teammate Jerod Boles for the No. 1 singles title Saturday. He also went a perfect 2-0 for the Blue Ponies two weeks ago in Conrad. Hellegaard is in his third year of varsity tennis.
