The Box Elder girls opened the 2013 District 9C tournament with a 63-55 win over the Hays-Lodge POle Thunderbirds Wednesday at Havre High. Alicia Wolf Chief scored 16 points for the Bears, while the T-Birds got 23 points from Shakayla Whitecow. Box Elder advances to the semifinals to take on top-seeded Chinook Thursday at 1 p.m. HLP will play in a loser-out game Friday at 6 p.m.
On the boys side, Chinook advanced to the semifinals by beating Turner 70-36 Wednesday afternoon. Zach Molyneaux scored 17 points for the Beeters, while Lucas Reed had 13 for the Tornadoes. Chinook will face top-seeded Box Elder Thursday at 2:30 p.m. Turner will play in a loser-out game Friday at 7:30 p.m.
