The Big Sandy Pioneers and Chinook Sugarbeeters won District 9C consolation games Saturday afternoon at the Havre High gymnasium. In the girls game, the Pioneers ran away from Box Elder 67-51. Molly Herron and Kaylie Gilman each had double-double's for the Pioneers, who can challenge for second place if North Star defeats Chinook in the championship game. Box Elder got 16 points from Krista Chief Stick in the loss.
In the boys consolation game, the Chinook Sugarbeeters used a final 14-4 run to put away Hays-Lodge Pole 63-54. Dylan Surber led five Beeters in doubel figures with 15 points. HLP got 13 by Sterling Whitecow. Chinook will have the chance to challenge for second on Monday if Box Elder defeats Big Sandy in the championship game.
