Breaking Sports: Big Sandy beats Highwood to reach state tourney

The Big Sandy Pioneers took the long road, but they are headed back to the Class C state tournament anyway. On Monday night in Great Falls, the Pioneers edged the Highwood Mountaineers 49-47 in a Northern C boys challenge game. The win means the Pioneers will play in the state tourney for the seocnd straight year and the third in the last four. Big Sandy lost in the first round of the Northern C last Thursday, but came back to beat Denton, Box Elder and Dutton-Brady before besting the Mountaineers on Monday night. The state C tournament will run March 7-9 in Bozeman.
