Breaking news: Rocky Boy clinic head arraigned on federal theft charges

Fawn Tadios denies charges

The federal government has indicted another Chippewa Cree Tribe official from Rocky Boy’s Indian Reservation on allegations of theft.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Montana announced in a press release this morning that Fawn Hahn Tadios, 41, pleaded not guilty in federal District Court in Great Falls to four felony charges. She is released on special conditions.

Look for a full story on the charges in Wednesday’s Havre Daily News, when further information has become available.

Tadios is charged with two counts of theft from an Indian tribal organization receiving federal grants, a count of theft from an Indian tribal organization, and a count of theft from a health care facility.

Rocky Boy officials have yet respond to requests from the Havre Daily News made starting last Thursday that they respond to a rumor that Tadios resigned last week as chief executive officer of the tribal Health Board.

An appeal of a protection order issued to keep former Chippewa Cree Business Committee Chair Ken Blatt St. Marks away from Tadios is pending in state District Court.

St. Marks has said repeatedly that Tadios’ request for a protection order — and his removal as chair of the tribal council, which he said was done illegally — is due to his helping federal investigators look into allegations of misdeeds and misuse of federal money at the reservation.

The investigation that led to Tadios’ indictment was a cooperative effort of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services-Office of Inspector General and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the U.S. Attorney release said.

Montanamedic writes:

@SCCprez, I think you have a lot of balls to make such comment aren't you under scrutiny for abuse of college credit cards? it is sort of like the frying pan calling the kettle black, I vote that ALL tribal programs have a forensic audit, leave no rock unturned so to speak, all of it! Any ways that is my thinking.

So when does Mr. Houle do the honorable thing an step down..opps forgot he has no honor...many of us knew Fawn was dirty..how bout the rest of the staff there..and other programs.. we are the laughing stock of all Indian Tribes..we used to be the trend setters, now were the crooks...step down it your guilty..if your on the council and did not know what was going on your either guilty or stupid...don't know which is the worst..

mad writes:

How do you all sleep at night?? It's time for these programs to go back to the government. It's clear that these tribal members are nothing more then greedy!! Can't manage money, can't manage programs, and surely do not look out for their PEOPLE! But they ALL know how to travel on the tax payers dime and line their own pockets! Always expecting a raise but can't do the job they have! Many of you complainers are just mad because you can't get something for FREE go and get a JOB! Abusive people!

medtran writes:

Finally, how she got this job is questionable. Now to get rid of her felon husband, who got a job while still in pre-release, recommended by Luanne Belcourt, who's running for chairman. Kinda makes you wonder what she would do if she were elected.

Bill writes:

The wheels of justice and karma are turning, slowly but surely. The community knew certain people had to go, Ken was the catalyst that made it happen. Fawn like many others were political appointees ignoring the more qualified. As in the recent judges selection. Once we rid ourselves of the meathead mentality permeating the tribal chambers we can start repairing the damages from incompetent leadership.

sad writes:

well its about time. as I lay at night worrying how I'm going to pay my daughters dr bills bcuz she was born with a disability I hope you sleep well at night and your able to wake up everymorning and look yourself in your ugly eyes. this has nothing to do with mr blatt it has to do with a nonenrolled greedy person. I hope you enjoyed ur steak dinners in las vegas and all the alcohol u consumed while tribal innocent children suffer bcuz u stole all of the sick kids health care funds. sickening

Disgusted writes:

@ sccprez. Federal money is geared towards all people on the reservation housing, medical, and to improve the community as well as help creat jobs so the people CAN work in their community. Federal funding is not for personal such as catching Laker game and then whining that they have to pay it back!!!!!

IAMINNOCENT writes:

go fawn go, you and your boo are now the bonnie and clyde parker of rocky boy.

hamlaw writes:

Well, we knew this one was coming too. Just not when. The Judge in Havre should dismiss for lack of jurisdiction and on the grounds that the Restraining Order was improvidently granted.

SccPrez writes:

The donation groupies are out with their go kenny comments. Get a job and help the community rather than whine and beg smdh. No one person will fix this and once you realize this the sooner you can start helping out community by being the change you want to see rather than pointing out bad and actin like you've discovered something that hasn't already been said by 20 grumpy people on the rb Facebook page.

NonEnrolleesSuk writes:

GOOD RIDDANCE! Now all we have to do is recalled the worthless eight remaining councilmen.

cmon writes:

whew.....7 down 24 more to go....go Team KENNY :)
