Sheriff: Deputy shoots man involved in drug deal

MISSOULA (AP) — Missoula County authorities say an undercover sheriff's deputy shot a man involved in a drug deal outside a casino in Missoula after the man didn't follow police commands.

Missoula County Sheriff Carl Ibsen tells the Missoulian (http://bit.ly/1aoXMRx) that the man dropped his hands to reach for something and attempted to flee the scene in a vehicle when the deputy opened fire shortly after 4 p.m. Friday outside the Magic Diamond Casino.

The sheriff says the man was hit once and the injury isn't life threatening. He was taken to St. Patrick Hospital. His name hasn't been released.

Three other males and one female were also taken into custody.

Ibsen says Ravalli County authorities will be the outside agency investigating the shooting.
